So first up in my Design Project plan is the living room.
I had painted this room a couple of years ago, and it's a lovely pale grey colour.
But I really find myself missing the white walls.
So I'm going to repaint them.
And then I want to add some bright art to the walls in white frames.
The room also needs new flooring, sofas and lighting.
But we'll start with just getting the walls painted this month and getting some art on the walls.
These are the Pins that are inspiring me most with my design plans.
January - the month of the paintbrush! x

It is funny. I was talking to my husband before New Years about how when we move back to the states I want to do all new colors and bright things. That seems to be the trend now. Then I saw 2 January magazines with "white" room articles...I think we are getting "brainwashed" by someone to buy white paint! LOL

Loving your inspiration Jen and looking forward to seeing how your room looks with the new walls and art. I see a lot of cushions in these pictures...my Etsy shop is making (slow) progress...when I've listed my fabrics choose your favourite and I'll rustle you up a little something for your sofa! xx
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the project , great inspiration so look forward to the end result. x
ReplyDeleteHow I wish we could paint our walls white but we rent so instead we'll have to make do with nice pics on the wall (when we get around to hanging them). Our landlord favours an awful shade of creamy yellow for the walls. Blurgh. Luckily we get lots of bright light or the colour would drive me loopy! Happy painting - looking forward to seeing the result! x
ReplyDeletethose books on the wall there are artwork on their own! and yes a poster to make me laugh would be nice. Good luck with the painting, it will feel nice to have a fresh room, Heather x
ReplyDeleteWe must all be thinking about new looks for our living space. I'm just deciding on the colour for my walls - white sounds good :)
ReplyDeleteWe're stuck in the mud of magnolia, I feel I'm drowning in it! We said last night "we should whitewash this." - must be a January thing. Although I think it'll be spring before we get round to it. Love the pin with the colour co-ordinated books!, Heather x
ReplyDeleteI love your inspiration Jen - I am sure your room willbe beautiful. Really looking forward to the results! X
ReplyDeleteLove the lampshade in that last photo.
ReplyDeleteThis post reminded me that I'd written a post a few weeks back about the next DIY project in our house - so thank you for the nudge!
I'm looking forward to seeing your finished room! x
Can't wait to see your paint job ... I love gallery walls and have just been telling my hubby that I want to get some frames for our burgeoning collection of prints ... Etsy has a lot to answer for :) ... Bee xx
ReplyDeleteA girl after my own heart, white walls are where it' s at! my lounge desperately needs a repaint too, but it hurts my head to think about how I will manage it when the lounge is connected to the dining room, and the stairs and landing! major paint job..... Good luck with yours! Xx
ReplyDeleteHi Jen, I'm about to start painting a few rooms white too. Would you mind me asking which white you are going to use? The choice is mind blowing. We have F&B White Tie in our lounge and it has a warm yellow tinge in certain light, but I'm not sure about using it everywhere.
ReplyDeleteHi Laura! Thanks for your comment. You are so right about the sheer amount of whites out there, but I'm going to use good old Dulux Pure Brilliant White! I've used F & B, Fired Earth and Dulux Tailormade before and whilst I do like them and the results they give, I just like Dulux PBW the best! It's bright, gives good coverage and is economical. I painted my bedroom and my son's in it last year and I love it. x
DeleteThank you for the reply Jen, and for saving me some money :) I'll go with Dulux PBW too.
DeletePS. Left the comment with my other site address :)
Good luck! I love pure white walls tho I always end up going for white with a little tint of something. My father in law is coming down for a few days tomorrow to build a fitted wardrobe in an alcove in our bedroom so we'll be busy too. My clothes have been piled onto a clothes rail for a year and a half so it'll be so good to get them all out of the way and behind the doors of a wardrobe. Love your inspirations btw!
ReplyDeleteGood luck! I just love the look and feel of a freshly painted room, and how decorating makes you empty a room and give it a good spring clean. Your white walls will look fabulous with some pops of colour on them - I hope you show us some photos when you're done!
